Mont Ventoux

The Bédoin road: 21.5 km at 7.5% to the observatory at 1,910 m. The first 6 km through the vineyards are gentle, then at the bend at Saint-Estève the forest begins and the gradient stays between 9 and 10% for 10 km with almost no respite. At the Chalet Reynard the trees stop, the Sault road joins from the right, and the last 6 km run over bare limestone into whatever the wind is doing. The Ventoux is not a col: there is nothing on the other side but the way down.
