The north side, 21.2 km at 7.2% from Malaucène, and the one people ride to avoid the crowds. It is not the easier way up: the gradient comes in long steep sections, some at 12%, broken by flatter stretches through the forest, so there is no single rhythm to find. The last kilometres above the trees face the Rhône plain and are as exposed as the Bédoin side.
