From the Maurienne side the Glandon climbs 21.7 km at 5.1% to 1,924 m, and like its neighbour the Croix de Fer it hides its difficulty in the average: the first kilometres are steep, there is a long false flat past Saint-Colomban-des-Villards, and the last 3 km ramp up to 11% below the pass. The Croix de Fer is 2.5 km further along the same road.
